You ever have that craving for vitamin Sea and sand between your toes? I know, I know....most people plan months and even a year or more for their vacation. I was made for planning. I plan my month, my weeks, my days, my hours, I have a plan for my plans but when it comes to family adventures, spontaneity takes over and all plans are set aside. In the midst of moving to a new town, new career paths, and the main reason of my husband being a K9 handler at the time, our family adventures were set back on the far burner. Our souls were crushed to have to decline invites for a mini vacation or a weekend trip. Just as seasons change, so does life. Joe (my husband, I promise I'm married... and to a wonderful man but he is more of the back stage coordinator than a lead actor), took a huge leap of faith and gave up being a SRO/K9 officer to go back on the road and have some more freedom with us traveling.

My husband and I's souls are made of the same thing. They say opposites attract, we are anything but opposite. With this being said, we were anxious to take a trip and enjoy being explorers again. My birthday was quickly approaching and so was the need for the ocean. On a Wednesday evening, the idea was tossed around about being able to drive the 11+ hours to enjoy the weekend seaside. By Thursday morning, it was a done deal. We would set sail in the Chrysler Pacifica Friday after work, arrive by Saturday morning, spend the day soaking up every breath of salt air and ray of beach sunshine, before packing up and heading back Sunday afternoon to make it on time for work on Monday morning.

If there is any piece of advice I ever share that you take full advantage of, it is this: take a random trip with your family! Honestly, it was the best trip we have ever taken together. We cherished every memory made.Maybe it was because we knew we were on a time crunch, or maybe it was a premonition that the country would be shutting down only a couple weeks later.....regardless, take the trip, take the pictures, drink the caffeine for your sleep deprivation. You can always catch up on snoozing but you can't catch up on the opportunities to make the memories.
